Her story is based on real life experiences, spiritualism taught from her Elders from her Indigenous community in British Columbia. Her Grandmother’s teach her about the cultural practices, beliefs and spiritualism as told by Creator to ancestors. These stories are passed on. My Granddaughter is inspired by the cultural teachings as she is Cree from Alberta and Shuswap from British Columbia. Her family dog is part of her story along with her spirit animals, the bear, the eagle and the wolf. She talks with the spirits and in her dreams the Creator of mother earth speaks to her. When her dog goes missing, it is her test to call upon the creator for answers, wisdom and knowledge, and to visit the spirit animals who live in the secret place she calls paradise in the mountain caves. The age group is 10 to 16. I am in process of obtaining estimates for printing this 10 page story which includes illustrations . If i knew of funders to help this story be published for libraries etc. we (Luckystar and myself Grandmother Marilyn) would be honored to receive your help and advice. The cost for ;printing in Edmonton Alberta Canada is: Canadian dollars is $ 8,268.00. . Hope to hear from you.

Comment on My AutoCrit Review: Fiction Writer’s Perspective by John https://bookishnerd.com/autocrit-review/#comment-69 Mon, 04 Mar 2024 15:58:13 +0000 https://nerdybookgirl.com/?p=78643#comment-69 thanks for your review. You helped clarify the writing service feature very well.
I am concerned about the T&C. Autocrit can/will sell your information to whom ever they want.
The cancel subscription part reminds me of Sirius radio. You must call to cancel, which is not a quick and easy experience.
I want to sign up but holding back on privacy issues.

Kind regards

Hi Jim – that’s strange because their support responds within 6-8 hours even on the weekends. I bet they probably responded to your support ticket, but it might have gone to spam.

Screen froze while writing and 17,000 word project is gone. Their software crashed. Their customer support is non-existent. This happened 3 days ago and there’s no resolution in sight. You can’t get anyone on the phone. This is a nightmare. My project is gone and I have to start over.

Comment on KDSPY Review: Is It Worth It & Is There a Free Alternative? by David Butler https://bookishnerd.com/kdspy-review/#comment-40 Mon, 02 Oct 2023 23:53:24 +0000 https://nerdybookgirl.com/?p=77461#comment-40 I used to use KDSPY years ago, but I’m having trouble logging in. I have the Chrome extension installed. When I click it, it asked me to log in. But the username and password that logs into https://www.publishingaltitude.com/ doesn’t work. And when I ask to reset my password, it just sends me to the https://www.publishingaltitude.com/ page. Is this extension still in operation? If so, how can I access it? Thanks.

Comment on Best Book Formatting Software: 5 of the Best Options by smelly sock https://bookishnerd.com/best-book-formatting-software/#comment-54 Sun, 04 Jun 2023 01:12:14 +0000 https://nerdybookgirl.com/?p=77570#comment-54 kindle create is awful, if you didn’t use microsoft word to write your book then you can’t import it anyway as it only supports .docx files that no one uses, extremely annoying and hard to use. Reedsy is worse, that’s after you’ve wasted an entire day trying to actually find it on their GIVE US YOUR MONEY messy website…AVOID REEDSY. Whoever is first to create free intuitive to use book formatting software will win the internet, I suspect 100% that it will be Canva and very soon and all the rest will go bankrupt.

I just updated it but must have forgotten to update the date. Anyway, I’ve been told the box set capability is coming out in the next week or two. As for download, yes you can. You can download it to your Mac and your PC.

Comment on How to Keep Overdrive Audiobooks Forever by Jack Lindsay https://bookishnerd.com/overdrive-audiobooks/#comment-34 Mon, 06 Feb 2023 21:59:36 +0000 https://nerdybookgirl.com/?p=77252#comment-34 As of February 2023, all the libraries that let you use the legacy Overdrive app to download (and keep forever) audiobooks are switching over to Libby. But there’s an easy way for Mac users to create MP3 files using Libby:

Get the Audio Hijack app or any other app that lets you record computer audio. I’ve only tried it with Audio Hijack but I’m sure there must be others for Mac and PCs too. Open up the Libby app on your computer, which will let you listen to it on the computer. Start a new recording that captures system audio. Start the recorder (in this case, Audio Hijack’s System Audio capture) and then just turn on the Libby reader and let it run for the duration of the audiobook. I use an old computer so the process won’t interfere with my other work. I can turn the volume all the way down so it just records silently. The volume of the computer speakers is inconsequential, the recording of the MP3 that you’ll get is going to have a constant volume. Audio Hijack’s interface shows you an equalizer bar so that you can see that the sound is recording, and it shows you how much time has elapsed and how big the file is at any time. It looks like it uses about 40MB or so per hour of recording. When finished just go name the file and, if you wish, convert the mp3 to an m4b if that’s your preferred format using a program like Audiobook Binder. You’ll now have a file that you can keep, and you can “return” your audiobook early to the library so other people won’t have to needlessly wait.
